First post in 2012 - back in SG for holiday again

Dear SG,

My goodness, I didn't realized my last post was so long ago. I am back in Singapore again for a holiday, it's been nearly 6 years since we've took flight and landed in NZ.

What I've noticed in this trip:

1. A lot of my working friends doesn't finish work till 7 or 8pm
2. I need to lose some weight, I'm XL or XXL sized in SG (If a clothing is free-sized or one-size, I can forget about it unless they are men's tee shirt! Lol )
3. The English and Chinese vocabulary of those under 7 years old are amazing, Nursery 1 is now the Primary 1 of our era!
4. There are indeed more foreigners around
5. I couldn't find Orchard MRT as I was standing outside Tangs in Orchard Road. Then I realized it was under a brand new building
6. It's loud everywhere or maybe I've just gotten used to the quiet in NZ
7. Singapore is still a shopping paradise
8. An IT Fair still attracts a lot of people; Digital Cameras, Internet TV and intelligent massaging chairs are now part of the IT fair!?
9. Food are plentiful and people are always buying food... so why didn't they put on weight? ;p
10. I didn't come across a lot of "2nd-hand" smoke, maybe there are less smokers around. I really appreciated that.
11. There's water play everywhere for kids! Malls, Zoo and even the bird park has one.
12. It is hotter than before or is it just us? (My mother-in-law who lives here seems to think the temperature is raising every year) But we did enjoyed a few cool days while we are here.
13. Almost every household has at least an aircon unit (or heat pump as known in NZ)
14. Almost everyone has a smart phone and even my older relatives are using Whatsapp on their phone
15. The new local communication methods are "SMS or better still, Whatsapp me", what happen to calling?  ;)
16. Singapore skyline has changed dramatically
17. There a lot more interesting architectural designed building around
18. A lot of malls did an external "face lift", i could see the original building encapsulated in a new shell. But that's probably because I knew what it looked like before.
19. Every other person has a DSLR camera
20. A lot of young children are not in a car seat while travelling in a car even though it's mandatory for all children under the age of 8

Pictures we took from the Singapore Flyer. (Singapore Skyline)

I hope this will not be my last post for 2012.

with love from SG itself,
Joan
